● Each sūtra ends in an it marker (an anubandha, cited with virāma) that is never itself part of a pratyāhāra. A pratyāhāra names the span from a starting sound to a later it letter (Pāṇini 1.1.71, ādir antyena sahetā) - e.g. अण् (aṇ) runs from अ to the ण् that closes sūtra 1.
